1. Definition and legal framework
A cookie is a file placed on the user's device when
visiting a website. The browser's local storage performs a
comparable function for a web application. Their use is governed by Article 82
of the loi Informatique et Libertés (French Data Protection Act) and by the CNIL guidelines:
trackers strictly necessary for the service requested by the user
are exempt from consent; all others require it.
2. Trackers used by Mycelora
Mycelora uses only trackers strictly necessary for the
operation of the service:
- Authentication session: session tokens kept in the browser's local storage, essential to keep the user logged in to their account. Without them, no login is possible.
- Interface preferences: local display settings for the dashboard, kept on the user's device.
Mycelora uses no audience measurement cookies, no advertising
cookies, no social media trackers and no third-party trackers. The
emails sent by Mycelora (daily brief) contain
no tracking pixel: neither opens nor clicks are tracked.
3. Why there is no consent banner
The CNIL guidelines only require consent to be obtained
for trackers that are not strictly necessary. As Mycelora places none, there
is no cookie banner: this is a design choice, not an oversight. Should
trackers subject to consent ever be introduced, a
consent collection mechanism would be put in place beforehand and
this policy would be updated.
4. Retention periods
Session tokens have the technical lifetime of the authentication
session and are renewed or invalidated upon logout. The
interface preferences remain on the user's device for as long as they
do not delete them.
5. Your choices
The user may at any time delete their browser's site data
(cookies and local storage): they will then simply be logged out
of Mycelora and their display preferences will be reset. Blocking these
strictly necessary trackers prevents the service from operating.
